Upgrading your computers RAM is easy as pie, and has many benefits. Whether you're a Mac user or a Windows user, choosing and upgrading your RAM is pretty much the same process. RAM is short for "Random Access Memory" is allows data to be temporarily written to it, instead of your hard drive. Thus reducing the sluggishness when having many applications open and when you reboot your computer, the RAM is wiped, and starts anew. Having plenty of RAM is crucial to having a good computer setup.

How do I know how much RAM I have?

Well, there many ways to find out how much you currently have! The most common way is to right click "my computer" and it will go to properties. Once there it should tell you how much is in your system. Also on there, you can find out your processor speed, and other misc. data, But lets stick with RAM right now. If you know your RAM is higher than what is shown, chances are, your RAM isnt seated right, or you ordered the wrong RAM.

Choosing and Upgrading

Well, this is pretty simple, you just need to be pointed in the right direction! I have included a link to Crucial.com. This site is NUMBER 1, when it comes to finding out what your computer is capable of, it will tell you how much you currently have, what your cap on RAM is, and gives you great deals on specific RAM to your system. Important note: RAM is not universal, choosing the wrong type of RAM can lead to an inoperable computer.

Using Crucial

Using this site is pretty easy, even for those less computer savvy! Just click "scan my system" and crucial will take it from there. When you recieve the RAM in the mail a few days later, it will include instructions on installing it. Whether you have a desktop or a laptop, the instructions are different! I may add another hub later on about in-depth installation of RAM. Good luck!
